The Feather Building is one of 17 historic buildings in Laclede's Landing and offers versatile space for various uses. Built in 1885, it was initially used for the manufacturing and distribution of wagon wheel grease and later for motor oil for Model T vehicles. This three-story brick building encompasses approximately 18,850 square feet, with each floor covering around 6,283 square feet.
The Feather Building features two entrances on North 2nd Street and an additional entrance on the second floor from Collins Alley. Most recently, the second floor was home to "The Royal Dump" Dinner Theater, while the first floor housed "The Roaring 20s Complex," a dueling piano bar.
The building is equipped with an elevator, enhancing accessibility. It presents an excellent opportunity to own a multi-tenant venue that has previously accommodated four bars across three floors, featuring three stages—one on each floor—as well as a prep kitchen on the first floor, a cooktop hood on the third floor, dressing rooms, and a 30-stall restroom.
A 118-car parking lot is conveniently located directly across the street from the Feather Building. Additionally, the Horseshoe Casino, Four Seasons Hotel and Resort, and Hotel Lumiere are just a short walk away, making this property ideally situated.
Location:
Laclede’s Landing is approximately 22 acres and is one of the oldest districts with over 250 years of history, showcasing its 19th-century Late Victorian architecture in St. Louis. Since the founding of St. Louis by Pierre Laclede in 1764, the “Landing” has served as the manufacturing, warehousing, and shipping hub for the city and the territory to the West. After all, St. Louis is the Gateway to the West, symbolized by the Gateway Arch located just south of this historic property. With the construction of the Gateway Arch in the 1960s, the “Landing” reinvented itself as an entertainment district, now featuring the Horseshoe Casino/Four Seasons Hotel-Resort as one of the newest additions to this area, a short walk north of the property, with the 118-surface lot directly across the street. Most recently, the “Missouri Main Street Connection” has made it their goal to help make the “Landing a thriving destination for area residents and tourists.” Most recently, a push has been underway to convert some of the properties in the “Landing” into residential Lofts with over 150 units completed/underway or planned. This property is nestled between the Paincourt Lofts ($3.1 million, 10 units) and the planned Trader Loft building ($5.7 million, 20 units) on N 2nd Street. The property is in the “Laclede’s Landing Historic District, making State and Federal Historic Tax Credits available.
